Getting back into web design

Hey all, I'm going to start looking into web designing again. This means refreshing myself in HTML, XHTML, CSS and more. I am coming here first to see if anyone has any resources to good tutorial websites in regards to any and all that information. I also am looking for some help in bringing myself up to speed with FTP uploading and a good program to use besides Dreamweaver to work on my files on my home computer. Any and all help is appreciated.

PS - Not to sound like a dick or a complete ass, but please keep any and all smart ass comments to yourself and don't post unless it can actually help me. I'd like this thread to be resourceful, not filled with junk postings.
